A Lifetime Devoted to the Art of Pipa
Guo Zhaoshun is a senior pipa virtuoso and music educator, currently residing in New York City, serving as a specially invited teacher at Wenshuyuan Art & Culture. He graduated from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music in 1975, majoring in pipa with secondary studies in ruan, sanxian, and other traditional Chinese instruments.
Before coming to the United States, he held the title of National Level-2 Performer in China. After immigrating, he joined the American Bao'an Chinese Orchestra and was invited to perform at a Chinese music showcase at Carnegie Hall in 2000.
Over his 20+ years in America, Mr. Guo has graced many of the world's most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
As a distinguished music educator, he has been dedicated to preserving and promoting traditional Chinese folk music, nurturing numerous outstanding students and making significant contributions to spreading Chinese traditional music overseas.
